FLYER MASTERY GUIDE GOES ON SALE!
New Chapter to Be Added

PRESS RELEASE:

(April 15: Oregon) - Orders for the much anticipated Flyer Mastery Guide, a production book for Video Toaster Flyer owners, began today even as the announcement of a new chapter being added took place. The new chapter deals specifically with the upcoming 4.2 upgrade from NewTek, which caused the shipping date of the Flyer Mastery Guide to be pushed from April 25 to June 2. The book will roughly arrive to those who order it by June 2 at the same time as NewTek's 4.2 software upgrade.

"It is important that I have 4.2 covered in the original release of the Flyer Mastery Guide," says the guide's author, Joe Tracy. "So now users will be getting a bonus chapter at the original price of $53.95 which also covers shipping and handling."

Chapters in the Flyer Mastery Guide now include:

  1. Flyer Basics & Beyond.
  2. Optimizing Your Flyer.
  3. Flyer Tutorials.
  4. Fixing Flyer Problems.
  5. Third Party Products.
  6. Flyer Tips & Shortcuts.
  7. Exploring Flyer 4.2.
  8. The Next Level.

The Flyer Mastery Guide is aimed at the production end of the Flyer and includes over 15 step-by-step tutorials to help users discover new features of the Flyer.

"I would estimate that many Flyer owners are using only 10 to 15 percent of the Flyer's total power," says Tracy. After a recent appearance at a user group meeting where Tracy gave a tutorial session, the group leaders reported that nine of the members had "rediscovered" their Flyer and another one on the fence took the plunge and purchased a Flyer.

"The fact is that this machine is exciting! It is amazing what you can do with it when you take the time to discover all of the hidden secrets," says Tracy. "I can do anything that any other system can with my Flyer, even though the methods of going about it may be different. I can see why in blind tests the Flyer performs as good and even better than systems costing tens of thousands of dollars!"

Like software, the Flyer Mastery Guide is made to be upgradeable so that future chapters and revisions can be sent to registered owners at a greatly reduced price. The owners then simply follow the directions to replace or add pages in the book and they have a new book! The first version (1.0) is being shipped on June 2.

Orders for the Flyer Mastery Guide can be made via phone (1-800-672-1880 - MasterCard or Visa) or by sending a check or money order to Studio Visions, Flyer Mastery Guide, 1038 W. Harvard Blvd., Roseburg, OR 97470. An order form can also be printed from Studio Visions website at www.studiovisions.com. The cost for the book is $53.95, which includes shipping and handling. A number of dealers will also be carrying the Flyer Mastery Guide.

While there are no educational discounts for the Flyer Mastery Guide (due to the high costs in creating and self-publishing it), Tracy has hinted that he may begin working on a Flyer textbook for teachers and students that could be completed as soon as September. "We'll re-examine that option after June 2," says Tracy who was a full time teacher for four years.

The Flyer Mastery Guide is aimed at production elements of the Flyer versus many of the technical specifications. For example, the guide doesn't deal with subjects like installing the Flyer card or hard drives.

"The best way to describe the Flyer Mastery Guide is to take a look at one of my Flyer columns in Video Toaster User or NewTekniques and multiply it by 100," Tracy says. "If you've been learning new things from those columns, then the Flyer Mastery Guide will be a great aid to you. If you haven't been learning anything new from those columns, then this book probably isn't for you."

Tracy adds that the purpose for writing the Flyer Mastery Guide wasn't to see how many books could be sold, but rather to inspire current Flyer users to take their productions to new heights. "I get excited by seeing other people succeed and am honored that I can play a role in that," he says.

More information can be found on the Flyer Mastery Guide at Studio Visions website, which is located on the World Wide Web at http://www.studiovisions.com. The website will soon be updated with a complete list of the tutorials in the book.
