This issue we will take a look at latest Lightwave offering from Replica Technology, "The Camelot Collection". For those of you that are not familiar with Replica, you should really check out their wares. These guys really know their stuff when it comes to 3D object libraries. The Camleot Collection deals with historically accurate models from the Middle ages. Castles, armor, weapons, etc. Of all their collections I think I like this one the best. If I were to buy it just from the real world textures, I would be more than pleased.

The set comes with over 250 images, ranging from various bricks and stones, to paintings and flags from the era. The nice thing about the set is that is comes with tons of example scenes and the objects are even animated. The only odd quirk I found was that you need to change your Content path to your CD Rom drive (which is normal) but instead of having it go directly to the scene drawer, you have to go inside the Objects/Replica/Camelot/Scenes drawer. Once you do, the scenes will find all the objects and images but it would be nice if they had followed the standard and put the scene drawer up a few levels.

They have CDs to cover all versions of Lightwave. The PC one works with PC, MIPS, DEC Alpha, & Amiga. They just released a special version to work with the MAC. The collection has hundreds of objects and images. Like I said earlier, the objects are even animated in the sample scenes. Torches flicker, fireplaces burn, doors open and close. They really went out of their way to give you some great examples to work with. Make sure though you have a speedy machine. With all these textures and objects, it can really slow down rendering. But hey that is why you buy those big , bad machines, so you can cram more stuff in. Well it is here! If you have any interests or needs for medieval environments, this collection is for you.
