owdy,

Well alot has been happening down in the smoke filled labs at Merlin's Software. We FINALLY finished volumes 3 & 4 of Visual FX for Image FX and now it is back to an update on our popular Control Tower software for the Flyer. We have gotten sooo many request for tutorials that we are also planning to release a video, teaching you the ins and outs of this fine package.

One thing that has come from the Flyer community (at least as far as 3rd party goes) is how well all of us get along. The folks at Ozware, ProWave, and Visual Inspirations have teamed up on many occassions to help each other out in time of need. NO where else will you see competitors helping out the competition, but you do here. It has been great! Now that Newtek has announced new lower prices, we should be seeing tons of new recruits to the Flyer squadron, and this makes us programmers tickeled pink. Keep your eyes out for new goodies from us in the future that will make your Flyer time more enjoyable.

This month we decided to toss you a bone. What! We have tons of new routines for Control Tower planned and wanted to give you a sneak peak. We have included a new macro from Control Tower. Now don't worry if you don't own Control Tower (but you should), this macro will also work with the VIFly program which was included FREE with 4.2 of the Flyer software.

Brian Jansen had requested a short while back, to have a macro that could tell him the location of a Flyer Clip in his current project. The Flyer will tell you the name of the clip when you click on it, but it will not tell you which drive or directory it resides on, so you have to go in to files view to find out where the heck it is. This can be a real pain when you have hundreds of clips and half a dozen drives to search through. What this script does is find exactly where the clip is located, what type of clip it is, and then brings up a requester to give you all the information.

We have included the script called Locate.lha for you to download. Simply copy this lha file over to your Amiga and then extract the file into RAM:. We recommend you copy the file to your Toaster:Arexx/Editor/StartupScripts drawer and then run the UpdateTools.rexx script. This will add the macro to your Tools bar on the Flyer screen. You can also just copy it into your Toaster:Arexx/Editor drawer and then click on the macro.

The Macro is simple to use. If you have put it in the tools drawer, just highlight the croutons you wish to locate and go to the tools bar and select the ClipLocation.rexx file. If you double click on the macro instead, it will ask if you need instructions, then ask you to do the whole project or to select certain croutons that you do so at that time. I hope you enjoy this script and look forward to new goodies asap...

Well that does it for this months installment.
Enjoy...
